Advertising policy
HypeUp sells promotional placement. Placement is ordered by each creator's campaign budget.
Campaigns & hypes
- Every creator has exactly one campaign, identified by platform + handle. Duplicates are merged into one campaign.
- A hype is a purchase of promotional placement for a creator's campaign. Anyone can hype: fans, fan pages, brands, or the creator themselves.
- Placement is the advertising service purchased with a hype.
- A campaign's budget is the sum of its completed hypes. A hype counts only once the payment provider confirms it.
- Minimum hype: $1. Starting a new campaign: $5. Whole US dollars, up to $999,999 per hype.
How placement works
- Placement is ordered by campaign budget within that showcase window. Followers, clicks and who you are don't affect it.
- Equal budgets are ordered by which reached that total first.
- Each campaign's current budget is shown publicly so pricing is transparent.
- Two payments at the same moment both stand. There are no holds, reservations, bids or auctions.
Showcase windows
- All-time counts every completed hype.
- This week counts hypes since Monday 00:00 UTC. Each Monday 00:00 UTC, the campaign with the largest budget that week — overall and in each category — is listed on the Weekly Showcase page for the following week. This is additional placement included with the campaign.
- Today counts hypes since 00:00 UTC.
- Each of the 12 categories has the same three windows, filtered to campaigns in that category.
Double Features
- Anyone can start a 24- or 72-hour Double Feature that promotes two creators together on one page, with a hype of $10 or more into one of the campaigns. It starts when that hype goes through.
- Hypes into either campaign during a Double Feature are listed on its page and still count on the main showcase. Nothing extra is charged.
- A Double Feature is joint promotion: the two campaigns aren't compared.
- A campaign can only be in one Double Feature at a time.
Payments are final
- All hypes are final, like any ad spend.
- Paying in rupees (UPI): each dollar amount has a fixed rupee price from that day's exchange rate, shown before you pay. The campaign budget counts the dollar amount — the rupee price you paid never changes placement later.
- Chargebacks: a disputed hype is removed from the campaign budget immediately. If the dispute is won it comes back; if it's lost, the payer can't hype again.
- Ad Credits: signed-in sponsors can load $5, $10 or $25 of prepaid advertising credit and hype from $1 with no card fee. Ad Credits are not money, have no cash value, never expire, and can't be withdrawn or transferred.
- A disputed Ad Credits purchase holds back its unspent credits until the dispute closes; a lost dispute closes the account.
Attribution
- You can show a name, link and role (fan, fan page, creator, brand) with your hype, or hype anonymously.
- Sponsors are listed on each campaign page in order of contribution. The largest contributor is credited as Lead sponsor.
- Anonymous hypes count toward the budget but aren't credited by name.
- Attribution links must be https, can't be link shorteners, and can't point back to us.
Campaign updates
- If you turn on campaign updates you must give an email (signed-in sponsors use their account email); we email you when that campaign's placement changes or its lead sponsor changes — at most one email per campaign per kind every 6 hours.
- Every update has a one-tap unsubscribe link.
- A verified creator can turn off placement updates to their sponsors; the option is then hidden for that campaign.
What's allowed
- Real public creators on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and Twitch. New campaigns need a handle that exists on the platform, or they go to manual review.
- Categories must match the creator's niche — no mockery or parody campaigns.
What's not allowed
- Adult content, illegal activity, or campaigns for private people who aren't public creators.
- Anyone under 18 — hidden on report.
- Impersonation, hate speech, or harassing names, taglines and attribution.
- Link shorteners, chat-invite links, or non-https links.
- Financial-advice creators who don't comply with SEBI rules on financial influencers; we may decline placement in Finance & Investing niches.
Opting out
- Creators or their representatives can opt out at /opt-out.
- We hide a campaign within 24 hours of a plausible request.
Verifying your profile
- Creators verify ownership with a short code in their bio and get the ✓ badge.
- Verified creators can edit their tagline, link and avatar.
- Verifying never moves money or changes who sponsored.
